Mio works hard to forget her sadness after divorcing her husband before her child was old enough to remember. On her first vacation in a long time, she goes to a hot spring resort. She is served by a young man who works at the inn. At first, Mio thinks he is a pleasant young man and chats with him, but the pendant he wears is the same as the one Mio gave him when they parted. Mio is convinced that the young man is her son. Mio learns from the young man that his father ran away in the night, leaving him with debts, and that his son, who is his guarantor, is working from morning till night at an inn.
